Description and Gameplay

War in the Mopti immerses the players in the intricacies of Sahel local politics. Each player can choose to work with or against a wide variety of actors. Ranging from the UN mission MINUSMA to local terrorist organisations, local peasants militias, or foreign mercenaries such as the Wagner group. Each player is free to do what they wish to complete their personalised set of objectives.

Players’ actions are therefore only limited by their imagination, as they are all free to write their own actions to be given to the facilitator. Such actions can include classical battle-related actions, such as troop movements, training and raising troops, and yielding IEDs. Actions can also include the construction of infrastructure, trading weapons, and negotiating agreements with local NGOs. You can even manage gold mines, decide to farm, or raise cattle. The total liberty given to the players makes it a perfect game for players with no prior experience with the topic or wargaming in general.
