Description

Tropical Falklands is a traditional rigid kriegspiel emulating a near-future war between western forces and the People’s Republic of China. The blue and red players use land, sea, and air assets to assert their tactical and operational dominance in a short period of time. Each camp is confronted with the difficulty of conducting a high-intensity operation far away from their main base of operation and supply nodes. Logistics, supply and reinforcement by sea and air is a central component of the game. The game is built as a sandbox, allowing for multiple scenarios to be created using the same game materials (amphibious operations, asymmetric warfare, focus on land operations, etc.)

Gameplay

The first scenario “Tropical Falklands: Our Last Flight for Nouméa” takes place on the island of New Caledonia. France is put in front of a fait accompli by a PRC private security company, the French army needs to act to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity of France. However, the French player is overmatched by a far stronger adversary, having overwhelming artillery and armor superiority. The PRC was also able to deploy an A2AD buble on the island. The challenge for the French player is to bring supply and reinforcement on the island by air amid a contested environment. The Chinese player is confronted with problems of its own, with a large force consuming a large quantity of munition being cut off from the Chinese mainland.
