Description
Jaws of the Dragon is a highly flexible wargame focusing on crisis or full scale warfare in East Asia focused on China, the US, Taiwan, and an array of regional allies. It is able to scale the number of players and have additional actors, capabilities, and political levels added to meet the desired focus of the game. Scenarios include SCS incidents, a Chinese blockade of Taiwan, all out war, and attempted invasion of Taiwan.
Gameplay
The military aspect is at Brigade/Naval Task Group/Squadron level, with rules for space, cyber, long range missiles, munitions stockpiles, logistics, special forces, and tactical and strategic nuclear weapon use. The level of detail can be increased or abstracted to match the player’s level of knowledge of warfare to meet the focus of the game. Politics is conducted by the players with teams having dedicated diplomats, military officers, and politicians to capture the interplay of politics with diplomacy and the military and to create alliance dynamics. Press Secretary and Journalist roles can be added to create further depth of the information environment and increase fog of war. Like in the real world players will have to leverage all the tools of state, under time pressure and with incomplete information to out-think and outfight their opponents.
